There is more than one way to warm a chilly home these days. We hear from a lot of Aiken residents who are looking to cut their heating and cooling costs by using the newest technology available. An Aiken heat pump may be a good option for anyone looking to save money on their bills. It is also the most environmentally friendly form of heating and cooling.
How Does An Aiken Heat Pump Work?
An Aiken heat pump works by using electricity to move heat around the house, rather than generate heat. Heat pumps provide up to four times the amount of energy they consume. There are two basic types of Aiken heat pumps available to consumers. The first is an Air Source Aiken heat pump, which is the most common type, which draws heat from the outside air and reduces the amount of electricity used for heating by up to 30 percent. The other type is a Geothermal Aiken heat pump, which uses warmth from the ground to provide heating. Both types have a backup heater system to deal with freakish temperatures or storms.
Which Type of Aiken Heat Pump Works Better?
Both heat pumps deliver superior efficiency compared to traditional HVAC systems. Technically, geothermal pumps are more efficient than air source pumps, but the excavation makes it more expensive to install. On the bright side, you are eligible for the Energy Star tax credit when you buy either type of Aiken heat pump. In addition to the federal credit, many state, local and utility programs offer additional subsidies.
